Old Age Home Visit

To sensitize the youth of today and inculcate in them the values of empathy and compassion, i.e. –the capacity to feel what it is to live in somebody else’s skin and feel their pain, New Horizon School, organized a visit to the Old Age Home situated in the New Mandi, Muzaffarnagar as a part of the integrated Work Education project titled –“ Senior Citizens “ for  the class of 9 and 10 students .

On 4th November 2018, Around 40 students accompanied by two teachers – Ms. Diksha and Mr. Harendra Kumar, paid a visit to the old age home carrying thoughtful gifts of blankets, woolens, biscuits etc. for the inmates.

Everyone was escorted by the manager of the NGO to show all the facilities that were made available to the senior citizens like – clinic, physiotherapy center, prayer hall, bedroom, kitchen etc. The students spent some thought-provoking moments with the inmates who have been either neglected or become unwanted by their children, who treat them as useless appendages.

It was really a poignant experience for all the students to visit the old age home and interact with its inmates. This visit was a huge learning experience for the young citizens and after spending two valuable hours, the students vowed to do something for senior citizens and contribute to the betterment of their condition.
